Nine Breaths
Haiku is sometimes described as “a poem you can read in a single breath”.
Each track on my latest album inspired/was inspired by an original haiku, which you can read below.
Nine haiku, nine breaths.
shattered window
frames
the unforeseen
sunrise
the world
breathing in
call and response
resonant woods
—first violins
upraised palms
tremble in worship
—spring shower
sunlight
courting dust
—weightless pirouettes
new shoots
oak and pine
—cathedral under construction
in the throng
familiar perfume
—loss, found
that spiraling leaf captures
by a branch
—this interrupted thought
eyes closed
reframe
the horizon
